My fondest memories of Ganesh Chaturthi go back to the days when we celebrated it at our grandparents’ house. I still remember waking up early and going out with my uncle to gather all the patri(the flowers and leaves used for the pooja). I have such vivid memories of those streets, the farms we wandered through, and the simple joy of being together.

Even though my grandfather was not particularly spiritual, he celebrated the festival with utmost sincerity. For him, it was about making sure that all of us understood the importance of celebrating together and keeping our traditions alive.

Coming to the present day, living at Jains Carlton Creek has somehow helped me relive those childhood memories. The vibrant spirit of celebration here is being passed on to the next generation, teaching them that the essence of a festival is not just about praying, but about bringing people together.

A heartfelt thanks to all the individuals who continue to put the community spirit above everything else. It has been almost 10 years, and every Ganesh Chaturthi feels less like a festival and more like a family celebration.

Watching the pooja, the performances, the distribution of prasad, and everyone coming together dressed in the chosen colour theme is truly beautiful. There is something incredibly special about seeing the entire community celebrate as one.

My daughter eagerly waits for the festival every year, and just like it became a part of my childhood, Ganesh Chaturthi has now become a part of her core memories too.

And perhaps, that is the most beautiful part of a tradition, it lives on, generation after generation.
